Each summer we organise workshops for school children to encourage building and making. The workshops are held in and around Rye Nature reserve. The unique shingle ridges or expansive beach of Camber sands provides a great location for building temporary structures or giant sand castles. In previous years we have made shelters from yacht sails in the sand dunes, built a 12-seater Camera Obscura, a ticket kiosk for a circus show, spaghetti bridges and developed our own photos in a makeshift darkroom. This year the children developed designs for a row of flood proof houses built on stilts on the river Rother.
