Old Redford Paddock house under construction

Old Redford is a new build two storey contemporary detached dwelling located within an AONB rural setting near Rye. The scheme includes the construction of a single storey annex. Both are well under construction with the SIPS panels to the first floor. The site is surrounded by a mature and dense boundary of protected oak trees. The designs for the new house use the naturally steep gradient of the site to partially bury the ground floor into the bank. This design allows a tiered landscape around the building and gives the first-floor bedrooms access to the higher garden tier at the rear.
The site was once part of a farm and livestock was kept on the land with historic maps showing a variety of small outbuildings. The designs take influence from this past use by utilising agricultural materials such as black stained timber and fair faced brick work. The flat roof design reduces the mass on the site and emphasises the tiered sloping site, with the flat roof areas also having extensive wildflower roofs. The house will be sustainably heated and cooled through a ground source bore hole with the construction designed to be highly insulated and airtight based on Passivhaus principles.
Construction is due to complete late Spring 2023.

7 The Suttons, Camber nears completion

The Scheme involves the construction of a contemporary new build dwelling on the beachfront at Camber Sands alongside a two-storey annex, an outdoor pool and landscaping works.
The ground floor has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area that opens to a terrace and allows for direct access onto the beach. Upper floors containing bedrooms are set back reducing the mass of the building and provide terraces providing great views of the English Channel.
The house and annex buildings’ facades are made of Dutch linear bricks at ground floor level and black stained timber cladding to the upper floors.

The scheme involved extensive alterations to the existing property to provide a contemporary look. The property is set within the High Weald AONB and has fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and is flanked by a mature woodland and wild grasslands. The layout of the house has been flipped upside down to maximise the views, resulting in an open plan to the top floor consisting of a kitchen, dining and a living area, whilst bedrooms are on the ground floor which open to the garden. The design combines angled dark timber cladding, with a dark render, and wildflower roofs.
The house is powered by a ground source heat loop, installed within the field to sustainably provide heating and hot water to the house, working in conjunction with a solar array.
