Old Redford Paddock house under construction
19.08.22
Old Redford is a new build two storey contemporary detached dwelling located within an AONB rural setting near Rye. The scheme includes the construction of a single storey annex. Both are well under construction with the SIPS panels to the first floor. The site is surrounded by a mature and dense boundary of protected oak trees. The designs for the new house use the naturally steep gradient of the site to partially bury the ground floor into the bank. This design allows a tiered landscape around the building and gives the first-floor bedrooms access to the higher garden tier at the rear.
The site was once part of a farm and livestock was kept on the land with historic maps showing a variety of small outbuildings. The designs take influence from this past use by utilising agricultural materials such as black stained timber and fair faced brick work. The flat roof design reduces the mass on the site and emphasises the tiered sloping site, with the flat roof areas also having extensive wildflower roofs. The house will be sustainably heated and cooled through a ground source bore hole with the construction designed to be highly insulated and airtight based on Passivhaus principles.
Construction is due to complete late Spring 2023.

The design combines angled dark timber cladding, with a dark render, and wildflower roofs.
The house is powered by a ground source heat loop, installed within the field to sustainably provide heating and hot water to the house, working in conjunction with a solar array.

Seabreeze wins RIBA regional award
04.05.22
We’re delighted that our project Seabreeze has been awarded an RIBA 2022 regional award. A special thanks to all who have contributed to make the project a reality and to our client who has put faith in us to deliver the dwelling at a unique setting.
Seabreeze is only one of a handful of properties in the region which are only accessed by driving along the beach. The dunes behind the property are a unique landscape feature and are designated as a SSSI. The designs are focused on creating a robust building to cope with the weather conditions, with high winds, moving sand and salt air. The building has been externally finished in trowelled concrete with a pink pigment, to create a sealed envelope.

Watermead submitted for planning
18.05.22
The proposal is to demolish the existing bungalow and garage and replace it with a new family dwelling and garage.
Due to the extreme sloping nature of the site the proposal is set over three levels, built into the landscape. The existing planting on the site will be retained to maintain the sites green nature
and ensure that the proposal is well screened.
The replacement dwelling will be positioned in the same location as the existing property; keeping the Northern and Eastern building line the same and being slightly reduced to the west.
By keeping the same building line and removing the garage this provides a long view through from the access point on west street through to the mature trees in the garden.
The main entrance leads through to an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. There is a separate snug and office located to the front elevation. The first floor will accommodate four bedrooms. The lower ground floor will be built into the landscape and only seen from the southern elevation. This lower ground floor will house a gym, sauna and flexible living TV space.
The roof of the lower ground floor will form part of the ground floor and the outside terrace space. The shape of the building has been designed to be more of a chalet style building. Meaning that the first floor is a space in the roof. There is an added dormer to the master bedroom
to provide the required head height.
Mayfiled has many buildings constructed with clay tiles, brick, stone, white render and white timber weatherboard. The materials we have proposed are in keeping with many buildings in the area.
Firstly, brick and stone will form the base of the building and will be sourced locally. Due to the building sitting in the landscape we feel this material would work well in this location.
The roof will be clay hanging tiles and pitched to represent many buildings in the area. These clay tiles will also be on the facade to the first floor, like Leweston the property next door.
