Royal Military Canal Development Nears Completion

Our scheme for four new build dwellings and restoration of an existing Victorian Mill is nearing completion on site in Appledore, Kent.

The site is located along the bank of the Royal Military Canal overlooking the canal and adjacent National Trust land with rural views beyond. The Grade I Listed Parish Church is directly to the rear of the site with a mature tree lining and the land to the south is SSSI. The site plan consists of 4 detached 4 bedroom houses each with private gardens overlooking the canal and National Trust land.

The three storey houses have large open plan ground floors, with a kitchen dining space overlooking the private gardens. On the first floor there are 2 double bedrooms, one with en suite along with one single bedroom and on the second floor there is a large master suite with walk in wardrobe, en suite and a balcony terrace overlooking the canal.

The houses have been designed using traditional materials executed in a very contemporary method, using hidden gutters, glass to glass corner windows, and glazed chevron bricks combined with Kebony cladding. The houses will each be heated via an air source heat pump and be highly insulated.

At the entrance to the site there is also Victorian mill which is a key part of the scheme, facing the main road frontage. The proposals include a full restoration, refurbishment and extension of the mill to provide a commercial premises with café on the ground floor and office space.

Completion is expected early Spring 2022.
